World Health Organization Expert Committee on Drug Dependence Pre-Review Report on Cannabidiol (CBD)

Safety Profile of CBD: World Health Organization Preliminary Report

The World Health Organization (WHO) (https://www.who.int/) published a “pre-review report” from the thirty ninth meeting of the Expert Committee on Drug Dependence on November 6-10th, 2017, finding that cannabidiol (CBD) has no potential for abuse and there are no known health concerns related to CBD. The Committee also found that there is strong preliminary evidence that CBD may be useful in treating a large number of medical conditions. To date, there is no evidence of any health problems associated with the use of CBD. WHO has officially recommended that cannabidiol (CBD) not be internationally scheduled as a controlled substance.
